The Government has committed to build 1.5 million new homes over the next parliament – with a renewed focus on delivering large-scale new communities across England to meet housing demand and need. This session will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the New Town Model and housing’s role in shaping large-scale communities with affordable homes at the heart.

  • Addressing infrastructure challenges around delivering large-scale urban projects to deliver well-connected, well-designed, self-sustaining places.
  • The role cohousing, coops, community land trusts and custom and self-build could play in new towns.
  • The importance of working together with local people to determine the “right places” to build communities.
