Both the social care and housing system are under enormous pressure – and as the population of older people in the UK increases, the supply of appropriate housing options is failing to meet the demand. This discussion will explore how we can bring together the partners and funding to increase the availability, quality, and choice of housing for older people.

  • How can we enable increased supply and improve the housing options for people in later life?
  • How can we incentivise more specialist older people’s housing developed by housing associations?
  • What funding mechanisms should local authorities and housing associations use to get accessible homes built when the viability of sites is such an issue?
  • How can we reform and integrate the NHS, social care and housing in the context of an ageing population?
